Support Asheville Artists
Our friends in Asheville, NC have had their lives turned upside down by Hurricane Helene. Homes and businesses were destroyed, futures and security are at risk, and hope feels difficult to grasp in this time of uncertainty. The artistic community was particularly hard hit by the damage to Asheville’s River Arts District, but artists, including those in the VAPA Center, stand together to help one another in times of crisis.
The VAPA Center wants to help bring hope back to the River Arts District and the artists of Asheville. To help rebuild the creative practices many have lost, the VAPA Center will establish a repository point for those interested to donate art supplies and equipment to artists in need. To facilitate this, we are actively working in concert with artists and arts organizations in Asheville to facilitate distribution to those affected. We encourage anyone who is interested in helping in this time of need to drop off art supplies for the artists in Asheville to come to the VAPA Center, 700 N Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC and leave them with us.
We thank you in advance for your generosity in this time of need!
If you would like to donate in other ways, please visit www.cerf+.org and https://artsnc.org/nc-arts-disaster-relief-fund/

“We have great expectations for this project…”
“We have great expectations for this project. The location, directly across the street from the McColl Center and Charlotte Ballet facilities, will only benefit from the presence of more artists and visitors.
As they come and go, and present shows and events, the artists will take what is currently a lifeless space on N. Tryon and transform it into an area of creativity, energy and cultural engagement.”
– Mark Hahn, Director of Asset and Facility Management at Mecklenburg County and Project advisor
